When she wasn’t working as a Creative Director in advertising, you’d find her rocking unforgettable DJ sets—ranging from Gqom, Deep House, Soul, R&B to nostalgic House music. Based in Johannesburg, Tsholo built her name across platforms like Deep House SA’s Podcast and regular mix features on Gagasi FM, YFM, and YOU FM.

Among her many career highlights, becoming the official DJ for the South African International Film Festival in 2017 (a role she reprised in 2023) held a special place.

If you were a fan of good vibes and great company, you loved Brunch With Tsholo—her signature lifestyle event that blended food, music, fashion, and culture. First featured on The Morning Show (eTV) in 2022, the event made a vibrant return in September 2024.

Beyond the decks, Tsholo was the visionary behind TR Concepts, a purpose-led creative consultancy. One of her standout projects was Que Sera Sera, an after-work DJ series curated by her that traveled across South African universities—offering young women hands-on DJ workshops and lessons in branding, performance, and craft mastery.

Tsholo proudly served as one of the four South African ambassadors for the Africa Rising Music Conference 2024. There, she moderated a powerful panel titled Women Leading Music Culture, featuring MamThug, Coco Bown, and Tumi Mthembu, which explored how brands and women who DJ could collaborate to transform the industry.

On the side, you might also have recognized her distinctive husky voice from TV and radio ads—Tsholo’s voice-over work was represented by Fine Tune Studios.

Clean slates. I love clean slates. New beginnings. Second chances. Or third. That’s the beauty of life. We get them everyday. With every sun rise comes a chance to start all over again. On a clean slate. A chance to do better. A chance to avoid the parts you didn’t like about yesterday and try something else, something new. Like a pair of new shoes, new starts can also be uncomfortable. The unlearning. I don’t know if I’m making much sense but basically, what I’m trying to say is – here’s to a new beginning.

Goodbye Durban

There’s something about 3am mornings. A balance between the minutes before your body starts to crash from fatigue, if you’re me or an hour or two before you drag yourself out of bed because capitalism is a bitch. You actually need to work to live. I’m currently listening to a song titled ‘In A Minute’ from Tumi and The Volume. I discovered it last week and I firmly believe that everyone needs to hear it at least twice before they hit the bucket.
